UT FLEX Fiscal Year 2019 Deadlines

If you had a flexible spending account in fiscal year 2019 (9/1/2018 through 8/31/2019), Friday, November, 15, 2019, is your last day to incur new eligible healthcare expenses. Also, Saturday, November 30, 2019, is the last day to submit all fiscal year 2019 healthcare and dependent care claims. Log in to https://www.myutflex.com to check your balances and/or submit claims.

Lung Cancer Awareness Month – Great American Smokeout – Warm-up

The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) projects on tobacco cessation and lung cancer screening will have a table at the cafeteria entrance from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. You can enter a drawing for a door prize from the gift shop.

Enroll or make changes to your AIG retirement plan – ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED

David Cook and Dana Hodges, the UTHSCT representatives from AIG Retirement Services, will be on campus every Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. to help you enroll, increase your contribution or make investment changes to your 403b/457b Retirement Plan and/or the 403b Optional Retirement Plan. They can also prepare a complimentary financial plan for you, answer questions about the Teacher Retirement System and help determine which voluntary retirement plan is best for you.

UT Health Thanksgiving Meal

UT Health Science Center and UT Health North Campus Tyler are thankful for all of the dedicated employees, contractors and volunteers who make education, research and healthcare happen here. We want to show our appreciation with a Thanksgiving meal in your honor for:

    • Day shift – Thursday, November 21, from 11 a.m. until 1:50 p.m.
    • Evening shift – Thursday, November 21, from 5 until 6:15 p.m.
    • Night shift – Thursday, November 21, from 11:59 p.m. until 1 a.m. Friday, November 22.

All meals will be served in the Blue Star Café and your ID badge will serve as your ticket for the meal.

The Great American Smokeout – Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Today is the day: The Great American Smokeout is set aside to encourage smokers to begin healthy, smoke-free lives – not just for a day, but year-round! Daisy Drinkard with American Cancer Society will be outside the Blue Star Café, near the picnic tables, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Enjoy activities and games with prizes. Grand prizes include three $50 gift cards from Walmart. Be sure to take a photo with our “Eliminate Tobacco Use” selfie frame to share on your social media with the #EliminateTobaccoUse hashtag!

Join us for Grand Rounds at noon in the Louise and Joseph Z. Ornelas Academic Amphitheater. James Fox, MD, pulmonary and critical care specialist, will present “Puff Your Poison: Cigarette and E-Cigarette Smoking Health Concerns.” “Quit cold turkey” sandwiches will be served.
