Holiday wreath decorating contest – wreath submission
Submit your wreath at the judging tables in the Piano Lobby on December 16 before noon.
Ugly Sweater Contest
The Employee Advisory Council (EAC) will be hosting the 2nd annual “Jingle and Mingle Ugly Sweater Contest.” To enter, wear your tactful, ugliest sweater. Costumes are not allowed. First, second and third prizes will be awarded by our guest judges. Come join us for light refreshments and fun from noon until 1 p.m. in the Piano Lobby.
Research Faculty Seminar
Usha Pendurthi, PhD, professor of cellular and molecular biology will present “Mechanism of EPCR-FVIIa mediated anti-inflammatory functions,” at noon in the Biomedical Research Auditorium.
Toys for Tots toy drive final day
The UT Health Science Center Student Government Association (SGA) is sponsoring two Toys for Tots collection boxes on campus. One is located in Student Services on the first floor of the School of Community and Rural Health building. The other is located in the D-wing of the Biomedical Research Center in front of the conference room. Donations of new, unwrapped toys are welcome from anyone who wishes to participate. The Toys for Tots program began in 1947 and has been serving Smith County for 10 years. Children in Smith and Henderson Counties will benefit from the toys donated.
Group photo and holiday wreath winner announcements
Join us in the Main Lobby (the fountain entrance) for a group photo in the shape of a human Christmas tree. Wear your festive holiday attire to make this photo even more fun!
Guest Seminar Series
Isaac K. Sundar, PhD, research assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, N.Y., will present “Circadian Clock Disruption in the Lung by Exposure to Environmental Tobacco Smoke and Allergen: Implications for Chronic Airway Disease,” at noon in the Biomedical Research Auditorium.
Clinical application code freeze
In preparation for the activation of the Epic electronic medical records system, we will implement a clinical application and system code freeze on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. A code freeze means that no additional modifications will be made and no new applications or systems will be implemented. Exclusions to this code freeze include changes that impact patient safety, revenue or regulatory reporting initiatives. If you have projects currently in process or in the planning phase, please have these completed prior to January 1, 2020.
